EP 16: Awareness: A Conversation about Racism, Politics, Police Brutality, and Making a Change with Jason Scott
In Episode 16, we hear from my friend and colleague Jason Scott. In my opinion, Jason is best described as a beautiful soul. All 6’7″ of him is well-respected because he is honest, transparent, and kind. Jason is passionate about what sets his soul on fire and has a unique ability to empathize with any and all underdogs. It’s hard not to respect someone defined in that way.
He is a husband to his adorable wife Caity, a dog dad, and a soon-to-be father. He is someone who has shed immense amounts of light on my world which has gently exposed my own naive viewpoints without projecting shame; something that is a gift of his. His perspectives come from someone who is biracial, liberal, and who is a journalist passionate about justice, equality, Harry Potter, and politics.

In this episode we anxiously come to the table (or to the mic) with zero expectations as to how this episode was going to flow. I invited him to do this episode with me because of how much his viewpoints have humbled my own. My one request was that he show up fully and stand in his truth, to not hold back and to share his perspective of today’s current events: Racism, Politics, Police Brutality, Juneteenth, and how we can create change. He did EXACTLY that.
Listen in as Jason fluently articulates and openly shares his thoughts and emotions on what it’s like to be a black man in today’s world, how he feels about bringing his first born into today’s world in the midst of racial injustice and a global pandemic and what we can do to create change.
To you, Jason: Thank you. I’m honored to have met you, to work with you, and to stand next to you in the fight against racial injustice. You have opened my eyes in a way that’s allowed me to receive your opinion and that is such a gift. You have a gift; do not be afraid to share it.
